I've been to shows of other bands that I liked, but somehow just felt "robbed", like they were just going through the motions. The boys never fail to entertain. Chandiliers, lots of velvet, booths and wood flooring. The show was high energy and filled with the usual hijinks. Just being inside can make you really wonder what it would have been like back in the day when a movie was a BIG night out! Of course, if you're a fan you know that every time a new album comes out, you're going to hear less of your "old" favorites...otherwise they would be on stage for three hours! (Not like I would complain) The show was a great mix of their old stuff and their new stuff off the album, "Sorry for partyin'". Jaret says, "OK, Belgium is David's favorite song...." and then he hands the guy the mic, and he gets on one knee, opens a little box, and proposes to his girlfriend!! It was uh-mazing. This was my first time to the El Rey, and it is a beautiful venue. They all make sure you get your money's worth, and they LOVE what they do. Toward the end, Jaret keeps singing, but he walks off stage. I coudn't see where he went, but then he was standing RIGHT behind me still singing! If you want to sit, you can still see the stage, if you want to be up front..the stage is the perfect height. They made time for everyone who wanted to say hi, and acted like they had all the time in the world. Led Zepagain - Led Zeppelin Tribute....bringing people together one couple, one rock show at a time! So far, every Led Zepagain - Led Zeppelin Tribute show I go to is better than the previous and this was no different! There was a "profound" (as Linus of Hollywood tweeted) moment where Jaret invited a guy onstage during "Belgium". At first he asked the audience if there was a "David so and so" in the audience. Then a minute later, here comes the guy holding a girls hand on stage. He was dancing in the crowd...it was sooo cool! They ended with 1985...but not really. Jaret's mic wasn't working for the first two songs, but that didn't deter them...Erik, Chris and Jaret just played musical mics until all was resolved. They returned to play "A Really Cool Dance Song".
